Safe Harbor breaks ground for new beds

Ground Breaking In attendance were State Representative Barbara McIlvaine Smith, County Commissioners Terrence Farrell and Kathi Cozzone,
Mayor Dick Yoder and a large variety of current and past members of the Borough Council, including BOTH mayoral candidates.
We had clergy, members of the Task Force, past staff and board members and other friends of Safe Harbor.
We were blessed to have Tariya and Patty there too.

Lighthouse Shelter
Safe Harbor provides beds for 20 single men and 4 women. In the fall when the new Safe Harbor women's shelter opens, we will have beds for 20 men and 20 women. Having a safe place to live for three months means so much to our men and women. They can leave their possessions knowing they are secure. They come 'home' to a hot dinner and a shower. The continuity gives them a chance to heal and to plan for a better future.
Lighthouse Case Management
Safe Harbor offers its clients
  • Collaboration to create a plan toward independent living
  • Life skills classes
  • Referrals to mental health and job training organizations
  • Lighthouse Weekday Lunch Program
Safe Harbor offers free lunch five days a week to anyone in need. These lunches can help stretch budgets so people can stay in their homes or pay for other essentials
    Lighthouse How you can help
  • Donate money to pay for heat, lights, nutritious meals, case managers and counselors
  • Donate your time to work in the kitchen, teach classes or help in the office
